WP3 - Blog Entry #1 - Glory

     The people who wrote history were the victors. With missing key components in explaining history, a possible topic for a reevaluation in history can possibly be the role of African American soldiers during the American Revolution. The prompting of this topic came from the film "Glory" that told the story of the 54th Massachusetts Regiment, which was one of the biggest sections of African American soldiers that composed the Continental Army. 

    This topic would be suitable for the reevaluation because information about the opportunities that were offered from African Americans during the American Revolution. Even though their operations lead to failure and plenty of casualties, their story is worth telling because of the spirit of African American soldiers that were prominent because of their desire to participate whilst partitioning for the abolition of slavery.

  1. I think your topic is great, and talks about a movement that is not really talked about much in History. A Full developed an analysis on this history is truly necessary in our society today.

  2. love your topic, I am writing about the lack of acknowledgement of Black Excellence in science and inventions in America and how that led to the racial wealth gap in America. American innocence is useless and counterintuitive given that America preaches upon freedom and equality. Nice topic

Blogging - A Retrospective

  This transitionary year back into school after such a long period of self-isolation allowed me to reflect upon myself academically and personally. This thematic approach taught me the twisted past of American contexts and the complexities within modern day society because of the foundations implanted by history. My writing was very mechanical in the beginning of the year because I felt like I had to follow some kind of format. As time progressed, I felt the freedom in letting my writing flow. It was an experimental year. USC has a very advanced underclassmen batch and I believed that benefitted the collaborative aspect of this class. Every single piece of insight, feedback, or conversations about my interests and topics translated into a web of consciousness that developed my ideas and reinforced the content of my writing.  Beyond WRIT-150, I want to continue writing about my thoughts, whether that be through journaling or blogging (or maybe even tweeting).
