WP4 - Blog Entry 1 - The Facebook Lizard

Remember when there was a joke that took the Internet by storm that claimed Mark Zuckerberg not being human? Well, during that time, he was testifying amidst his company's scandal on the discrete use of user information from approximately 50 million individuals in collaboration with Cambridge Analytica during the Trump Campaign. The multibillionaire tech CEO apologizes for the company's lack of effort in protecting user information because it is ultimately an invasion of privacy and an endangerment of personal security. This was controversial because Facebook was stealing user information without any knowledge from the public and selling their data to multiple outlets, which included Cambridge Analytica, during the Trump Campaign in order to increase political advantage. As a CEO Mark Zuckerberg came out and apologized with a mission statement from Facebook to regain public trust and better his self image. With his personality alone, his statement lacked emotion due to his monotone voice, but he meant business. After following scandals about Facebook's data mining, Zuckerberg's apologies lost its effect and there is little progress from social networking company.

  1. Mark Zuckerberg is a little weird, so, not surprised lol. I agree that his monotone does give him that image of fakeness because he seems soulless in his facial expressions are also so boring. In an apology, you have to see and feel genuine empathy in order to actually feel that the person apologizing is being remorseful.

My writing was very mechanical in the beginning of the year because I felt like I had to follow some kind of format. As time progressed, I felt the freedom in letting my writing flow. It was an experimental year. USC has a very advanced underclassmen batch and I believed that benefitted the collaborative aspect of this class. Every single piece of insight, feedback, or conversations about my interests and topics translated into a web of consciousness that developed my ideas and reinforced the content of my writing.  Beyond WRIT-150, I want to continue writing about my thoughts, whether that be through journaling or blogging (or maybe even tweeting). It's like speakin...
